To those out there working in the system:
Imagine a world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth. You are not in control of your own life. Your mind is trapped in the idea of stability, security, and accountability.
Now imagine that in reality, you are plugged into this system merely as a source of energy--a battery--for the use of a much larger organization. You are expendable, replaceable, disposable.
But, what if you were to wake up? What if you were able to unplug? Maybe you could do much more. You could take control of your own life (as much as God allows).
This isn't just a sci-fi story. This is real.
To all of us working "the job" ... the "career" : Free your mind.
It's difficult, and it takes faith. No one makes the first jump. Once you start to believe in yourself, it will be difficult to go back. In fact, you cannot be reinserted into the system. You will reject it.
Ignorance may be bliss, but it is still ignorance.
Of course, you may choose to enter into the system once in a while to get certain things done, but at least you can now see the bigger picture.
I'm not trying to tell you that you can dodge job offers. When you're ready, you won't have to...

Look Joe, I haven't met you yet, but I have a deep manly love for you.
I know Joe and I still have a deep, manly love for him. I also have a deep, powerful love for you, Taylor. What are you doing on Friday night?
EWWWWW!
Moving right along because there's a free world to keep rockin' in (Young, 1980 something).
I like your disposable battery matrix analogy. It's true. Really. However, 'believing in yourself' only goes until you reach the end of yourself... then where do you go? Get a phat cigar and think on that for 4.7 minutes.
On the topic of 'the job' I have always considered the slave-master relationship. Just a few weeks ago I was sitting there teaching English (that's pretty much all I do) and using Etymology (that word is too big for Taylor 2 so he can google it) as a way to study English. One day we came across the word 'employee'. I was about to explain the root of the word and then it hit me... "to employ". So I started explaining. "To employ something is to use something...like "We employed the B2 bomber maneouvre to rock their world." Or, "If that guy employs that tactic on that girl again, she'll slap him." So, it's a kind of 'technique' or 'method' at best.
Then there is another definition which is when your time is 'employed in something', like when you say 'Your time would be much better employed in investing, rather than just talking about it, sucka-foo!"
In either case it means 'to use' or 'to have one's time sucked'. Makes sense. The "employer' (user/time-sucker) employs (uses/sucks the time of) you.
Since we're on this word study, I think I'll pop over to my favourite etymology site, www.etymonline.com and see what they have to say:
"Sense of "hire, engage" first recorded in Eng. 1584, from "involve in a particular purpose.""
Not so good for my case, but educational nonetheless.
I hope you have a good day at work tomorrow.
Just remember - you don't have to stay in the time-suckin'-tool matrix mode.
As Jesus said "Get out of the boat."
