Edward Jones

Not sure what I think of these guys. I built a relationship with a new 'advisor' who keeps calling. However , they have a violent takeover mentality. They want to be on every street corner, which makes me think they have enormous overhead, which means me, the investor is paying for it. He says I can get 7-12 percent with them, and also get life insurance.

Anybody know anything?

Taylor 2. It would be beneficial if you embed a link in your posts when you want us to feed-back. Otherwise I have to use valuable wrist strength googling your advisors! No respect, I tell ya! Taylors are all to be avoided.

My first complaint is that they dont' have enough bandwidth and it took about 40 seconds for their homepage to load (www.edwardjones.com, FYI)

These guys seem no different to me, whatsoever, than London Life. Maybe you know them? Here is my take on London Life and it may make sense.

-they push 'long term' funds. They are trained to use charts that convince you to 'stay for the long haul' and 'look at the average growth'. However, and i have tested this personally, are not willing to guarantee anything at all. Nothing. Further, there are usually disclaimers on all their stuff saying 'this chart blah blah' and if you read that 'blah blah' it usually takes all the wind out of the chart. Try.

-They sell life insurance: I like their life insurance and bought some. Why? Because a) it's tax sheltered and b) it has cash value should you ever need to cash it in and c) if I croak before my wife, she cashes in on my departure. Bonus!

I say, T2, stick with your plan of learning your investment niche like a master, putting all your eggs into that basket, and rocking some serious profit. They may have good life insurance, though, so look at that.

Just read this page! It screams 'average investor' and 'pseudo-safety'

If after reading this you say 'this is me' then go with my blessing and caution.

And there is (I heard) a place for these kind of funds but certainly shouldn't be used for big deal investing that you are more geared for.

My thoughts! I truthfully didn't read the site in its entirety.
